2017/18 Kaisercraft Design team Application Round 2 - "Lilac Whisper" Scrapbook layout + process video

Hi Scrap Friends

What an honor to make it to
Round 2 of the Kaisercraft Design Team call 2017/18.

As any papercrafter knows, Kaisercraft is the dream team to represent.

Today I'm creating with the beautiful "Lilac Whisper" collection - available July.

Keep reading to enjoy my submission...

*** Scrapbook Layout ***

This collection is a lovely soft and pastel palette.
I chose a black and white photo as I wanted to highlight the collection.
Rather than create with subtle colour, I chose to enhance the collection by using the brighter purple.

I love to create layouts in new styles and new collections with photos that might be classed as old - in this case, my wedding from back in 2010.
It's always interesting reviewing the album and seeing how my style and papercraft trends have developed.

I briefly toyed with the idea of completing an OTP project but decided that as my favourite creations are layouts, I should definitely create a scrapbook layout.

I started with the 12x12 "White wood" P2348
I tore a strip from each side and chose
CB153 corrugated card as the backing.
I treated the corrugated card with white gesso - painted on.

I did not prep the paper with gesso as I find the Distress Oxides hold quite well without it.
Using a water brush, I freehand drew the triangle of "Wilted Violet" and allowed to dry naturally.
The oxide develops with the water and has a lovely matte finish.

When the oxide is dry, I've used the Kaisermist "Blackberry" KM119 to add extra background splatter.

To make the frames for the background I've used 12x12 "Mist" P2347
Cut into various size squares and trimmed into paper frames.

I've stitched the frames with machine sewing - avoiding the areas which will be covered by photo and cluster.

To complete the cluster for the photo I've used the following - trimmed to various sizes.

"Illusion" P2345
"Jade" P2349
"Echo" P2350
"Opal" P2346

Photo backed with "Mauve" P2344

When I'm creating a cluster I continue to add paper behind the photo until I'm happy with the layers.
Sometimes the papers are trimmed as I go and I like to also include banners, tags and doily's.

Before attaching the photo cluster to the background,
I've added a touch of green to the layout with the
Kaisermist "Apple" KM117 through the "Blossom" mini designer template IT017.

Finally, I've created a handmade flower using P2343 "Hydrangea"
and cut with the silhouette Cameo.
I just love that the flower is made with the patterned paper and matches the layout perfectly.

The embellishment cluster also features
Paper Blooms in "Amethyst" F643 &
Mini Paper Blooms in "Sage" F649

Final embellishing is from the sticker sheet and using wood veneer pieces.
