--- Colour Blast DT --- August challenge reveal - Scrapbook Layout + process video

Hi Scrap Friends

Today is a special day.
It's my first share as a DT member of

This month we are launching a monthly challenge and I'm honoured to be first.

Here is my layout "Everyday"

If you are not already a member, pop over to the Colour Blast Creative Corner on facebook

This month we have a product recipe challenge and we'd like you to use a minimum of 1 of the products shown ...

I chose mica powder and Colour Spray.

First I started with a 9x12 white cardstock. I gathered some supplies and tools.

I've spread a thick layer of White Heavy Gesso through the stencil - Leave the stencil in place.

Using a dry fan brush, sprinkle the Mica powder over the wet gesso - I've used Polar.
Again - don't lift the stencil.

Spray water directly from on top to activate the mica powder - leave the stencil in place.

Hit the gesso + mica powder + water with the heat gun - for about 10 seconds.
Peel off stencil and dry completely.

Repeat this process to cover the whole page.
Some of the mica powder sticks to the gesso and some reacts with the water.

Now to create the layout. I've torn some of the 9x12 card away and mounted on a 12x12 background paper.

This background was a complete experiment so once I knew it worked,
I chose a photo and this chipboard to match.
I've given the chippie a coat of gesso then embossed with Just Blue.

A small strip of washi tape helps join the mixed media background with the background paper.

With my cluster ready, I'm going to add a second layer of colour to the background.
I've used a brush and freehand painted Colour Spray in Carribean

Some background stamping with permanent ink.

Some splatters with Road Base Colour Spray to finish the background.

Here's a couple of close ups of the finished background product.
I like this honeycomb stencil effect but it would work well with lots of other stencils too.

I love the effect of the mica powder on the gesso and the variations in the colour.

Here is the full page.

As a bonus, I also created a process video for this layout. Enjoy ...

Thanks for visiting.
Happy Scrapping.
