--- Colour Blast DT --- "Hooray" Scrapbook Layout + process video

Hi Scrap Friends

Today I'm sharing a new project for Colour Blast

This page is "Hooray, Easter Egg Hunt"

For this page I've used the following

Colour Spray Carribean
Colour Spray Lagoon
Colour Spray Indigo
Colour Embossing Powder Just Blue
Colour Embossing Powder Steel
Colour Paste Steel

***

I started with this background paper that has a foil pattern
and gathered some supplies.

I've used the Colour Sprays CarribeanLagoon & Indigo
spraying them directly onto the paper and using paper towel to mop up the excess.

I felt like the Indigo got a little lost, so I added some splatters and again dried with paper towel.

I put the bones of the layout together to see if I had added enough spray in the background.

Time to add Colour Paste Steel - just smooth through the stencil like butter!

While the paste is setting naturally, I'm going to work on my chipboard.
I've taken a scrap piece of paper and adhered my chipboard to it - so that it won't move.
Then I've masked some areas with washi tape.

In the unmasked areas I've added Colour Embossing Powder Just Blue

Right now it looks like a huge mess. Once I've masked off the blue and then filled the gaps with Colour Embossing Powder Steel ...

You are left with a really cool effect on the chipboard.

Now I'm going to put the rest of the page together.
Starting with my title, some paper layers and a little bit of cheeseclothe.

To bring the page together I've added a Black Heavy Gesso border - roughly with my finger.

And because I had lots of gesso left, I added some water and then used a paintbrush to add some splatters to the background.

The finished page is one of my favourites.
I love the background against the foil and the two tone chipboard looks awesome.
The large title and mixed lettering, means I could leave the embellishing to a minimum.

You can see the whole process in the video below.

Scrap the Boys - January challenge - Flowers "Hello, Hello"

Hi Scrap Friends

Today I'm sharing a scrapbook layout for
Scrap the Boys January challenge.

My layout "Hello Hello"

This months challenge is to use "Flowers on a boys page"

Easy right?

I started with floral patterned paper, but dampened it down with some white gesso.
Then added some Distress Ink through a flower stencil.
I've used flower paper in my cluster and of course ...

Paper flowers!

I don't particularly love this page - I think it's got too much going on and I much prefer the clean style scrapping, but I've recorded the memory and played along at STB.

Thanks for visiting.

Happy Scrapping.

--- A2Z Scraplets DT --- "Happy Holiday Memory" Scrapbook Layout

Hi Scrap Friends

Today I'm sharing a layout for A2Z Scraplets

My layout "Happy Holiday Memory"

This layout started as a background experiement and quickly developed from there ...

I pulled out this washi tape that I didn't really know how to use.
I started making lines of it on the page and then covered the whole thing with clear gesso.

When the gesso was dry - I used Distress Crayon to smudge some more colour around the lines.
I also wanted some really subtle colour - so I sprayed some Colour Spray "Bling" freestyle.
Then I added some stamping and black ink splatters.

The chipboard pieces are the spotty circles
I've given them a coat of gesso and then covered them with metallic Distress Crayon.

Finally I've chosen this photo because it had a little pop of colour to go with my very neutral background.

I've added some journalling, title and butterflies to finish the page.

Thanks for visiting.

--- Colour Blast DT --- "You make me smile" Scrapbook layout + process video

Hi Scrap Friends

Today I'm sharing a new project for Colour Blast

"You make me smile"

Did you know we hold a monthly challenge over on the

This month we have a sketch to play along with.

No automatic alt text available.

I have inverted the sketch and rotated it so that I can see how it looks on the black background.

***
To play along - all you need to do is create a page inspired by the sketch and upload it to the album ...
You could win Colour Blast products, just for playing along.

***

The first thing I did was collect a few items I thought would make a good page.

With my black background I sprayed Colour Shimmer Spray Deep Water straight onto the cardstock.

I then used the same spray to add some background splatter.

I felt like the background still needed something ... so I dug out one of my favourite stencils and added some Colour Paste in Steel.

I like to allow my backgrounds to dry naturally, so once dry,
apply white Heavy Gesso around the outside to make a frame.
For me I like to apply this part pretty rough and messy - I think it adds to the final layout.

I've then added some water to the white gesso and used a fan type brush to add some background splatters.

Final steps to complete the page are the photo cluster and embellishing.

Don't you just love how the colour shimmer spray looks on black???

You can check out the process video below.
