--- Scrapbook Boutique DT --- "Awesome" Mixed media scrapbook layout + process video

 Hi Scrap Friends

Today I've got a layout to share for Scrapbook Boutique

"Awesome"

Let's be honest (and feel free to leave me honest comments) - I just don't love this layout.
I started with an idea in mind and despite creating something I don't hate I just can't warm to this page.

Firstly I've used the

to create a striped background.

Then for some colour and texture I've added lots of "Fossilized Amber" Distress Crayon and splatters.

I've stencilled some texture onto the background and added Distress Crayon

At this point, I'd chosen a cluster and added a doily - I think the doily was wrong.
It was too pretty for the MM background so I ended up messing it up a little, by tearing some parts of it away.

Still not happy with this page, I ended up adding some stamping and wood veneer pieces from Cocoa Vanilla Studio "You Rock" collection.

You can find all of these products at

Here is the process video if you'd like to watch .

--- A2Z Scraplets DT --- "Create your own dreams" scrapbook layout

Hi Scrap Friends

Today I'm sharing a layout for A2Z Scraplets

My layout "Create your own dreams"

I used the
and coated it with Colour Blast embossing Powder "Deep Water".

I've also included the Chicken wire frame.
I gave it a coat of gesso and then used Distress Ink "Blueprint Sketch" to roughly add some colour.

The background paper was a half started page that ended up in the reject draw.
I added Minc foil to tissue paper and then used gel medium to adhere the tissue paper to the white cardstock.
The background also features Colour Blast paste "Steel" and splatters of Colour Spray "Caribbean"

I have further embellished this page with Kaisercraft stickers and die cuts, a flair from Just Add Flair and snuck a Charms Creations tab in there too.

Thanks for visiting.
Happy Scrapping.

Scrap the Boys December inspiration challenge layout "Believe"

Hi Scrap Friends

Today I'm sharing my take on the challenge over at
Scrap the Boys

"Believe"

What an amazing inspiration image for this month ...

I had to think about this one a little before I got started on the actual doing.
I ended up replicating the rainbow tree for my background with Distress Crayons.

I gave the cardstock a coat of white gesso first - it makes smudging and blending the crayons a lot easier.

The background was easy, but covering it up and embellishing was a little trickier.
I ended up going through my photo stash and found this one of DH adding the star to the tree.
It was a great opportunity to get it scrapped and I'm so pleased with the final layout.

Thanks for visiting.

123 Challenge Blog December Scrapbook Layout "Together"

Hi Scrap Friends

Today I'm sharing a layout created for the December challenge at

My page "Together"

The sketch has a real Christmas feel but I really took my inspiration from the colours.

I spent a bit of time stash busting to put this page together. Lots of elements from my all time favourite collection Simple Stories "Life in Color".

My background is painted on with Colour Blast shimmer dust in "Candy"

Mostly I left this page really simple to allow the photo (one of my favs) to really shine.

Thanks for visiting.
Happy Scrapping.

--- A2Z Scraplets DT --- "# Cool" Scrapbook Layout

Hi Scrap Friends

Today I'm sharing a layout for A2Z Scraplets

My layout "# Cool"

For this page I've used my chipboard in a couple of different ways.

You'll need the Flourish 79

Firstly I've created my background with papers and given the whole thing a coat of clear gesso.
Remove the chipboard piece from the frame and use the empty frame to spray Colour Blast spray in "Rainforest" through it.
Once dry I've used the same empty frame as a stencil, tracing the leaves with a black pen.

The flourish itself has various coats of Colour Blast embossing powder in "Apple of my eye" and "Envy".
You don't need to be too particular about the coverage.
It looks more natural when it's a little rough.

I've used flowers and embellishments to help the page flow from the top left to the bottom right.

--- Colour Blast DT --- "Cheers" Scrapbook Layout + Process video - technique

Hi Scrap Friends

Today I'm sharing a new project for Colour Blast

"Cheers"

For this project you'll need
Colour Shimmer Dust Navy
Colour Shimmer Dust Cobalt

I'm really drawn to the shimmer dusts at the moment and this layout was a little experiment in a new technique.

What you see below is the second attempt - My first attempt ended up in the bin all because I didn't follow the single most important rule of the colour wheel!!!
Yep - I did this same technique but with three colours and I ended up with mud!!!

Read on and I'll explain more ...

Firstly I've taken the White Heavy Gesso and the Shimmer Dusts in Navy and Cobalt + a piece of white 12x12 cardstock.

Next I've used a spatula to spread the White Heavy gesso down one side of the page - amount is important here - not to much or it's a gluggy mess that will never dry but too little and you won't be able to spread with the shimmer dusts - I would suggest experimenting first.

While the gesso is wet sprinkle alternating similar colours along the length of the gesso and then with a spatula spread the colour into the centre of the page.
I love how it mixes and gives different layers of colour with the gesso.

I chose to repeat the process on the opposite side of the page, filling in some of the gaps.

When it's dried, you get this awesome background.
I can't wait to try this with other colour combinations.

As the edges where a little messy, I chose to cover them with paper layers.

Normally I would use these fabulous blues for a boys page but I opened my printed photo stash and saw this one of myself wearing a blue dress and fascinator for the races and knew it was perfect for this page.
I created my large cluster and a smaller area diagonally opposite.

Finally I needed a title.
I made the title with the Cameo - cutting it three times and layering them on top of each other for a chipboard effect.
I originally was going to use "Just Blue" embossing powder but thought it would get lost in the blue background.

So I chose to add a little sparkle instead and used the Snow White embossing powder.

I love the sparkly finish on the blue background.

Lastly I've added computer journalling and a couple of little embellishments - allowing the background to shine.

Here is the final layout ...

I've also created a process video for this page too.
