*** Mystical Scrapbooks *** 8 week challenge - Around the world - Week 8: Australia

And our last leg brings us back to the place we love... 'down under'!

Australia boasts some of the world's most beautiful natural wonders such as the Great Barrier Reef - the world's largest coral reef system, the Heritage Listed Ayers Rock (Uluru), the Bungle Bungles in Western Australia, the Twelve Apostles along the Great Ocean Road. Man-made icons include the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. *
Well, here we are home again.

* Australian explor

Well, here we are home again in Australia.
I have so enjoyed my Around the World trip.

My final layout share is "Scenic Route"

Using negative space is a real challenge for me.
I'm kind of a more is more scrapper.

So for this layout I started with White Cardstock.
I created an area of interest on the left by adding random strips of paper.

Choosing a photo was easy ... this is one of Master Z in his Birthday suit making a run for it on Fraser Island!

I added some black ink splatters and got stuck.

I put the layout aside for a couple of days and tried to decide how to make this layout into something I love but still meet the negative space criteria.

Stitching was the answer.

In the video you'll see how I did the chain stitch but you can find lots of detailed tutorial on YouTube.

Thank you for joining us for this 8 week Challenge.

It has been such fun seeing how you've all interpreted the challenges.

Can't wait to see who our winners are.

Thanks for visiting.

Happy Scrapping

--- Kitaholic Kits DT --- "Zed" Scrapbook layout + process video

Hi Scrap Friends

Welcome along to my blog today.
I'm so pleased to be sharing inspiration for

Here is my layout
"Zed"

The inspiration for this page was the Mixed Media Kit featuring the fabulous Colour Blast Artists Inks in "Citrus", "Marine" and "Sunburnt".

I decided that I wanted to make a water colour background, but I didn't want it to be solid colour.
So I took some old washi tape and taped off sections of white cardstock.

I then added the artists inks firstly in Citrus and Sunburnt, sprayed with water and dried with heat gun.
I left it overnight to make sure it was completely dry then repeated the process with Marine and Citrus.

After it dried, I removed the washi tape and got this awesome stripey background.
I decided to trim it and mount it on  black cardstock.

The rest of the page is just layering embellishments with some stitching and a couple of black ink splatters to finish it off.

Thanks for visiting.
Happy Scrapping.

Artastic Challenge Blog - September Scrapbook Layout "Dare to dream big"

Hi Scrap Friends

Today I'm sharing a page created for the September challenge at

This is one of my favourite challenge sites each month because the art piece gives so many wonderful interpretations.

My Layout "Dare to dream big"

This months image is titled "The mentor"

Initially I was drawn to all the shades of blue and grey of the sky.
I wanted to find a fishing picture or even one of a dog at the beach but looking through my stash, I found this one of Master Z with his Dad.

He loves to dress up in his work gear and be just like Dad so I thought this really fit with the "mentor" title.

I've used a Uniquely Creative Kit from a few months back to pull in some of the blue colours and added some Navy paste to the background.

Once I added the photo and layers I needed something else so I added the stitched triangles and love how this page turned out.

Thanks for visiting.

Happy Scrapping.

--- A2Z Scraplets DT --- "Together" Scrapbook Layout

Hi Scrap Friends

Today I'm sharing a layout for A2Z Scraplets

My layout "Together"

I love how the photo can sometimes inspire the page.
I snapped this one of my new pup "Zara" all snuggled up with my big boy "Zeus".
I built some paper layers around the photo and then picked out some chipboard peices.

The Hearts in Rectangles makes a fabulous background piece.
I've coated mine with black gesso, then sprayed with Diamond Finish spray paint - quick & easy.

In the background I've used Distress Oxide Inks before stitching on a large circle.

Finally I've embellished the page with a Charms Creations chevron and some stickers.

--- Off the Rails Scrapbooking DT --- July scrapbook Layout + process video

Hi Scrap Friends

It's July already and what better way to enjoy the start of a new month, than with a moodboard challenge.

I'm sharing my take on the Off the Rails Scrapbooking July moodboard.

My Layout "Making Memories"

This month we'd like you to embrace the cold and let it inspire your creation.

My first inspiration was to find a photo to scrap that really reflected the weather - this one of Master C with his hoody on, in black and white was perfect.

I then created a mixed media background on resist patterned paper to create similar colours to the moodboard.

Finally I've added some very neutral embellishments to keep in theme with the moodboard.

You can see the whole process in the video below.

Thanks for stopping by - happy Scrapping.

--- Scrapbook Boutique DT --- "This is Everything" Scrapbook Layout + process video

 Hi Scrap Friends

Today I've got a layout to share for Scrapbook Boutique

"This is everything"

I very rarely do a double page but this paper collection from DCWV inspired me to create this double layout.

I have had these photos printed for such a long time and when I flipped through this paper pad, I knew they would be perfect.

I've teamed these papers with Crate Paper "Wild Heart" ephemera. It just works perfectly with the papers.

While working on this layout, I tried to think of ways to incorporate a little mixed media but each time I just couldn't bring myself to "mess" with this layout.
I eventually decided to simply stitch around each area of the patterned papers with black first then white thread.

I love the striking simplicity of the patterned papers.

Kaisercraft June challenge Scrapbook Layout "Cherish"

Hi Scrap Friends

Today I'm sharing my take on the challenge on the
Kaisercraft Blog

"Cherish"

I decided to do the left vertical column - Black and white photos x 2, stitching and stencil.

I've used the Mini Designer stencil and traced through it.

Then I stitched around the stencil marks with a combination of navy and blue sparkly cotton.

I adore the navy florals in this collection and kept it nice and simple with a kraft background and white accents.

--- Scrapbook Boutique DT --- "Us" Scrapbook layout + process video

 Hi Scrap Friends

Today I've got a layout to share for Scrapbook Boutique

"Us"

Lately my creative mojo has gone missing!!!
So when it comes to creating I'm struggling.
To complete this page, I've tried going back to some old techniques.

Firstly paste through a stencil.
I just adore this Trodat leaf stencil.

Then I added some of my "go to" colour - teal!
I've used acrylic paint and added lots of water, allowing the paint to run through the paste and down the page.

The background papers come from the fabulous DCWV "Wild and Fancy" collection.
Once I'd finished with the mixed media elements, I wanted to tidy it all up and bring it together.
So I hand stitched around the inner paper square.

To finish I've added some flowers and leaves.
The title I cut using the Cameo and gave it a coat of black gesso, followed by a little sprinkle of glitter.
