My Creative Sketches - March "Happiness" Scrapbooking layout

Well it's the end of another month and I'm scrambling to finish some layouts that are hanging around on my desk.
I love that My Creative Sketches release there sketch in the middle of the month, it gives me more time to play around.
Fortunately this one came together really easily and is ready to share.

"Happiness"

I've been experimenting a little more with mixed media and although I find it messy and unstructured, I'm finding ways to like my layouts more. I've been watching lots of tutorials and am desperate for one of the My Creative Scrapbook Kits - just need to convince my husband that I need more craft supplies :)

Here are some close ups:

This is the sketch the layout was based on

White With 1 - March Challenge "Cute" Scrapbook layout

I have to admit, I found the colour at White with 1 this month, quite challenging to work with. I don't think I've got it quite right but here it is anyway.

My layout "Cute"

I started with layering paper and stitching and distressing the edges. Added some texture paste and Dylusions spray ink. I wanted to add some silver & black touches to break up the layout as well.

Not one of my favourite layouts but I don't completely hate it either.

Materials:

White cardstock, CM paper, modelling paste, Dylusions "Cut Grass" spray ink, Lindy's Stamp Gang "Steel Shimmer" Glitz spray, sequins, cabachon's, black ink, Kaisercraft papers and collectables and silver twine

Off the Rails - March mood board & sketch layout "1984"

I have to admit, I'm not a huge fan of vintage layouts, however my Mother-in-law just gave me a bag of photos of my DH from birth to his 21st and it's given me a whole new realm of scrapping.

My local scrapbook store also has a monthly challenge kit and the two worked perfectly together.

My layout "1984"

(Note: The envelope has DH first address on it, which I've covered for privacy reasons)

You can visit Off the Rails Scrapbooking here to check out their fun vintage mood palette.

I used the sketch, took inspiration from the old letters and couldn't go past the brown and cream colours.

Please feel free to leave a comment.

Materials:

Brown cardstock, Creative Memories (CM) papers, Merci papers, Cricut, Stampin Up Stamp, Paper string, Green Tara flower, Little Birdie flower, leaves, Basic Grey alphabet, Carta Bella "Moments & Memories" sticker sheet

Sassy Scrapper - March Mood Board "Good Times"

I love the colour orange, so as soon as I saw the mood board from Sassy Scrapper I wanted to play.

"Good Times"

I was inspired by the colours but didn't really want to make a pastel layout, so brightened everything up. I used a round base of Gesso like the cake and included the pretty pearl flourish from Green Tara as pearls are often found on a wedding gown.

The photo is a picture of my Mum hanging out with my two year old twin boys (It's almost impossible to get a picture of them both, looking at the camera AND smiling).
I chose black and white so that I could use the more feminine colours of the mood board, but put my boys in it.

Thanks for visiting, please feel free to leave a comment.

Materials:

Creative Memories paper, gesso, Kaisercraft "Hot Pink", Jo Sonja's "Orange", washi tape, Gelatos "Watermelon", paper scraps, Silver Ink, ribbon, Orange cardstock, Little Birdie flower, Green Tara pearl flourish, Flourish with a Bling flower, Kaisercraft flower & diamonte, Kaisercraft "Dream Big" collectable

D-Lish Scraps March Mood Board & Sketch "Love" - Caribbean Skies

I was so very excited to open my package from D-Lish Scraps to find my Just add Paper kit. This is my first one and I'm super impressed.

So many pretty embellishments all perfectly colour coordinated to match the sketch/mood board and all totally useable.
At $10, they are a bargain and I'll definitely be getting more. It was great fun, using the items on my layout and even though I didn't use them all for this challenge, I'll definitely use them on other pages.

Be quick though - they sell out fast.

 Here is my layout "Love"

I found the sketch had lots of squares, corners and sharp edges, so wanted to lift my photos a little by cutting them in circles. I really like how they pop off the page!

Master C has a go anywhere, do anything attitude and always ends up in the strangest places - like my kitchen shelves.

Materials:

Close to my Heart (CTMH) paper, Gesso, Gelatos "Silver Ice", modelling paste, stencil, washi tape, Kaisercraft "Shine Bright" collectables, D-Lish Scraps Just Add Paper "Caribbean Skies" embellishments

Scrap the Girls - Mixed Media layout "Mum"

I went through a big mixed media phase but haven't really been playing much lately as felt it wasn't really my style. There are some beautiful mixed media artists out there that are so inspiring so after visiting some other blogs and watching a few tutorials I thought I'd have another play around and see what I could come up with.

This is my layout for Scrap the Girls March sketch challenge.

This is a photo of my Mum and I at my baby shower, so the title Mum has a double meaning. Since becoming a mum myself, I have so much more respect for my own mum and am grateful for everything she's done and continues to do for me.

A close up of the flowers - a mix of Little Birdie, Kaisercraft and Flourish with a Bling.

Materials:

Black cardstock, gesso, texture paste, Kaisercraft red acrylic paint, Mod podge "Matte", Gelatos "Silver Ice", various papers, stamps, embossing powder, cotton twine, "Mum" cut from Cricut "Artiste" cartridge, black ink, Flowers, butterfly and Merci leaves
