*** Mystical Scrapbooks DT *** September challenge reveal

Hi Crafters

Today I'm sharing a new layout for Mystical Scrapbooks.

Welcome to our September Challenge, this month we are letting our favourite movies inspire our challenges.

It may seem tricky to be inspired by a movie but here are some suggestions:

- title
- photo remind you of a scene from a movie
- movie poster colours
- Good vs evil
- Romance, comedy, Action
- Cartoons

"Hide & Seek" is a thriller movie title - I've never watched it (too scary) but I've heard about it.

So for this layout I've used black thickers to pop off the Nuvo background.

The background is just freehand squiggles, dots and splatters.

I've also used the Uniquely Creative "Choose your own adventure" collection.

This was lots of fun to put together and I can't wait to see your "Movie" inspiration.

Happy Scrapping.

*** Mystical Scrapbook DT *** August Cybercrop reveal 9 x 12 sketch challenge

 Hi Crafters

Today's share is for the Cybercrop challenge at Mystical Scrapbooks.

This month we are inspiring you with sketch challenges.

"Picture Perfect"

I really enjoy creating in 9x12 so I'm challenging you to give it a go.

You could also adapt this sketch to 12 x 12 in the same way.

I didn't want my background to be too overwhelming so I've used a combination of white cardstock and glitter cardstock.

The squares of patterned paper are all from the Uniquely Creative "Choose your own adventure" collection

This time I've kept the chipboard simple and covered it with embossing powder.

I love to do interesting things with chipboard.

To finish I've just added some fussy cutting, cotton and journalling.

Can't wait to see your creations

Happy Scrapping.

*** Mystical Scrapbook DT *** August Inspiration 12x12 Layout "Friends" with process video

Hi Crafters

Today I'm sharing a new page for  Mystical Scrapbooks.

"Friends"

For this layout I've been playing with

Uniquely Creative "Choose your own adventure" collection

These papers already have a mixed media feel so not much extra was needed - but to create some texture I've added some distressing and paper scrunching.

To embellish I've used some CVS Flair buttons

I love to do interesting things with chipboard.

So for this "Friends" chipboard, I've firstly coated it with acrylic paint.

Then I've covered the upper part with washi tape so I can add the glitter to the bottoms part.

I cover the lower section with tacky glue then sprinkle with glitter.

Once the glitter is dry, I spray with a sealant.

To finish, I've added a little bit of fussy cutting and some die cut pieces.

Here is the process video:

Happy creating!

*** Mystical Scrapbook DT *** August Challenge reveal 12 x 12 Sketch challenge

Hi Crafters

How is it the start of month already?

Today I'm sharing a new challenge for Mystical Scrapbooks

This month we are focusing on sketches with a side of chipboard.

"Love this Moment"

I've designed this layout and then given you this sketch to use as you are inspired.

For this layout I've been playing with

Uniquely Creative "Choose your own adventure" collection

I also needed some colour in the background ... so I pulled out watercolours

To embellish I've used lots of Cocoa Vanilla Studio "Legendary"

and topped it off with some CVS Flair buttons

For the title I've used the Love this Moment chipboard and treated it with acrylic paint and embossing powder.

I'm looking forward to seeing your sketch inspired layouts.

Have fun creating!

*** Mystical Scrapbooks DT *** Cybercrop Challenge reveal July

   Hi Crafters

It's cybercrop challenge time over at Mystical Scrapbooks.

Your challenge is to use

Here is my inspiration:

I'm really enjoying creating with 9x12 at the moment.

It challenges my creativity but also I can fit a lot more pages on my shelves.

So I've started with wood paper.

Then I've added the mixed media element which is acrylic paint through the Kaisercraft Line Art stencil.

I chose some 3x4 photos and mounted them on black - to give them a little pop.

I've used the Uniquely Creative Brick die on white cardstock, leaving it plain behind the photo and colouring it with distress ink under the "Brave" word.

I've finished with some star embellishments and wood pieces.

Thanks for visiting

Happy Scrapping

*** Mystical Scrapbooks DT *** July inspiration post - Scrapbook Layout "Family" background with acrylic paints

   Hi Crafters

Today I'm sharing a new layout for Mystical Scrapbooks.

For this layout I wanted to focus on using acrylic paints.

Sea Breeze

Marine Blue

Coastal Blue

Firstly I've used paste through stencil. Once it's dried I've used the acrylic paints with water to thin them out.

To apply, I've used a combination of packaging technique and paintbrush to move the colours.

Choosing a photo is often a tricky part of creating.

I tried a few and settled on this one.

I've used the Family title from Cocoa Vanilla Studio.

With such a pretty background, I just had to add some florals

So I've fussy cut some Uniquely Creative paper and combined it with carnations.

Finally I've finished with just a little black stamping.

Here is the process video to see how this page came together.

Thanks for visiting

Happy Scrapping

*** Mystical Scrapbooks DT *** July 3-2-1 challenge reveal

  Hi Crafters

It's challenge reveal day over at Mystical Scrapbooks.

Your challenge is to use 3 x patterned papers, 2 word title and 1 die cut

Here is my inspiration:

"Book Lover"

Each month we are providing a product focus and this month it's Dies.

I've used the Uniquely Creative Barbed Wire

Don't forget that dies don't have to be used for the exact description ... I've used the barbed wire cuts as the string on my tag :)

For the background I'm using Uniquely Creative Chevron paper and cut to 8.5 x 11.

The other patterned papers used on this layout are:

Once upon a Christmas

Ocean Breeze

I chose my photo thinking about a two word title and used black thickers

I've included a die cut tag and added lots of stars.

I've created an area for my journalling at the bottom over the mesh ribbon which provides some great texture.

To finish I've mounted it on some black cardstock.

I look forward to seeing your challenge entries.

Happy crafting.

*** Mystical Scrapbooks *** 8 week challenge - Around the world - Week 8: Australia

And our last leg brings us back to the place we love... 'down under'!

Australia boasts some of the world's most beautiful natural wonders such as the Great Barrier Reef - the world's largest coral reef system, the Heritage Listed Ayers Rock (Uluru), the Bungle Bungles in Western Australia, the Twelve Apostles along the Great Ocean Road. Man-made icons include the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. *
Well, here we are home again.

* Australian explor

Well, here we are home again in Australia.
I have so enjoyed my Around the World trip.

My final layout share is "Scenic Route"

Using negative space is a real challenge for me.
I'm kind of a more is more scrapper.

So for this layout I started with White Cardstock.
I created an area of interest on the left by adding random strips of paper.

Choosing a photo was easy ... this is one of Master Z in his Birthday suit making a run for it on Fraser Island!

I added some black ink splatters and got stuck.

I put the layout aside for a couple of days and tried to decide how to make this layout into something I love but still meet the negative space criteria.

Stitching was the answer.

In the video you'll see how I did the chain stitch but you can find lots of detailed tutorial on YouTube.

Thank you for joining us for this 8 week Challenge.

It has been such fun seeing how you've all interpreted the challenges.

Can't wait to see who our winners are.

Thanks for visiting.

Happy Scrapping

*** Mystical Scrapbooks DT *** June Cybercrop Challenge Reveal - Triangles

 Hi Crafters

Louise sharing for the June Cybercrop over at Mystical Scrapbooks.

Your challenge is to use multiple triangles (more than one, but as many as you like).

I started the layout as a 9x12 but added that to some black cardstock.

The washi tape was from my stash ... featuring triangles of course!

Finally I've added some triangle enamel dots.

I can't wait to see your triangle inspiration.

Happy Scrapping.

*** Mystical Scrapbooks *** 8 week challenge - Around the world - Week 7: China

 Heading north east now...

China has a lot going for it, culture, production, animals and tourism.

But what really grabs me is their food ...

Symbolism of Chinese Food

Here is my food layout "Don't get Hangry"

I've started with this pineapple paper and torn it into strips. Then I've layered the strips over the top and distressed the edges.

I knew I wanted to add some colour to the white background so I've prepped my paper with gesso

I've then used Colour Blast Shimmer Dust to add some colour to the background.

A little bit of stitching in a circle to draw in the black.

I've created my own title by cutting the word "Hangry" three times with my Silhouette Cameo and layered them on top of each other.

I've used some sequins and Rhinestones for bling.

Here is the process video:

Can't wait to see your creations.

Happy Scrapping

*** Mystical Scrapbooks *** 8 week challenge - Around the world - Week 6: India

 Heading south now...

Fabulous challenge this week ...

Here is my inspiration

"Stories"

I love this challenge.

I have a 6x6 Minc machine which is gathering dust.
So I decided to get some foil supplies out!
So glad I did.

I started by adding a layer of DecoFoil Transfer Gel through a Hexagon Stencil
It dries kind of tacky.

Then I grabbed foil in the brightest colour I had - Blue

I place the foil over the gel and heat with my heat gun.
Then using my hands (not recommended as it's hot) or a hard but blunt tool I smudge the foil into the gel.

More smudging gives a more even affect, but I like the rough look, so I just keep adding until I'm happy.

The background is so vibrant I kept the embellishing simple - the ribbon from the kit and some fussy cut florals.

This photo is not a particular favourite but I love the story it tells.

You can check out the process in this video:

*** Mystical Scrapbooks *** 8 week challenge - Around the world - Week 5: Russia

Still heading east... by train or hot air balloon for the truly adventurous!...

The world's largest country offers it all, from historic cities and idyllic countryside to artistic riches, epic train rides and vodka-fuelled nightlife. *

I've used my title as inspiration for this Russia challenge. For some strange reason I think of Russians drinking lots of vodka and enjoying ...

"The Good Life"

This Kaisercraft acetate had the perfect curve and I've distressed the Uniquely Creative "Once upon a Christmas" papers

I chose a Christmas photo and gave this layout a really woodsy feel by using the woodgrain paper.

I have of course included my kit item ... flair and added some more circle elements.

Finally the Foam titles work perfectly.

Love how this one turned out.

here is the process video if you'd like to watch this layout come together.

Happy Scrapping

*** Mystical Scrapbooks *** 8 week challenge - Around the world - Week 4: France

Heading east now across the North Atlantic Ocean ...

Half way around the world and we are settling in France for the week.

Here is my inspiration layout:

The challenge to include fabric and lace was difficult for me.
I had a good think about this one and

So I pulled out some supplies and started to think about the background.

I started with the Uniquely Creative "Ocean Breeze" paper and used a sponge to add some Kaisercraft Acrylic Paint - Tropical Water in stripes.

I managed to find some tulle with spots and this became my fabric element.
I've used the ribbon from the kit and kept it simple for embellishing.

Other items are the Foam Title and bling cardstock.

Here is the process video for this layout:

*** Mystical Scrapbooks *** 8 week challenge - Around the world - Week 3: Canada

  Heading north .....

Canada has some amazing scenery and as the second largest country in the world, we are all familiar with the Canadian Flag.

The flag itself has such an interesting history.

For this inspiration we want you to feature "Red & White"

My layout "Vacay"

I've used papers from Uniquely Creative "Once upon a Christmas" collection and fussy cut a lot of florals.

I had a play with a fussy cut title but it wasn't working for me - I just couldn't get the colour to match.

So I had to find something to match and a Thickers title was perfect.

I would normally add some splatters but I just can't bring myself to add red splatters.

So I've used the Kaisercraft Rhinestones to embellish.

Here is the process video for this layout:

Happy scrapping.

Can't wait to see your entries.

*** Mystical Scrapbooks *** 8 week challenge - Around the world - Week 2: Africa

Now we are off to cross the South Atlantic Ocean to....

Check out your baggage claim ticket for your mood board..

Here is my layout "Love This"

My inspiration came in the form of Animals ... so I've scrapped these pics of my Baby Girl taking a ride in the car.

I struggle with stamping but did use it as the border and I think the paws work great with my animal themed page.

Supplies used for this layout:

Uniquely Creative paper

Kaisercraft Time Machine Stickers

Cocoa Vanilla Foam Title

Metallic paint - gold

Here is the process video for this layout:

Happy Scrapping

Can't wait to check out your entries.

*** Mystical Scrapbooks *** 8 week challenge - Around the world - Week 1: Brazil

Welcome to our annual 8-week competition for 2021!

Are you ready for a fabulous 8 week trip around the world?

This year our challenges are inspired by amazing countries around the world but remember, your pages can be on any subject at all, just follow the challenge requirements.

So grab your gear we're off to...

When I think of Brazil I think of Rio.
Now I'm singing the song but I'm also thinking of all the colours of Carnival!

My inspiration is all about the rainbow:

"Captured"

The Cocoa Vanilla Studio "Sunkissed" collection is just perfect for this challenge.
Don't forget to include some washi tape

I prepped my white cardstock with gesso

Then created a rainbow background using Distress Oxides but the colour dried a lot lighter than I planned so I added some more colour using my watercolour palette.

I love this title "Captured" from the Unforgettable Foam titles sheet.

Although my kit hasn't arrived, I've improvised with some washi tape from my stash.

I needed the layout to have a little pop so I fussy cut the Summerlights paper so I could add the stars.
The title was so dark so I added some black stamped stars to tie everything together.

I've finished with some stickers, cotton and Charms Creations Stars.

Here is the video to check out how this layout came together.

This was such fun, I can't wait to see your rainbow inspiration.

Happy Crafting ...
